The Best Football Pitches Birmingham has to Offer
If you’re in England’s second city and fancy a 5-a-side game with the boys, then be sure to check out these fantastic football pitches in Birmingham!
Getting out of the house for a game of footy now and again is great for both exercising and socialising. Despite its reputation as a “concrete jungle”, there’s actually loads of fantastic Birmingham football pitches around the city where you and the lads can book in and go for a kickabout. With that being said, let’s take a look at all the best football pitches Birmingham has to offer.
1. Powerleague Birmingham
First up on the list is Powerleague Birmingham, one of the largest and most popular football pitches in Birmingham that can be found on the north side of the city, close to the infamous Spaghetti Junction. Open until midnight throughout the week, this place offers players both 5 and 7-a-side outdoor pitches as well as an on-site bar and function room. It also takes corporate bookings too, so if you and the lads from work fancy a kickabout then this place is well worth checking out.
2. Goals Birmingham (Star City)
Not far from the last entry on this list is Goals Birmingham StarCity. Situated at the popular entertainment and shopping complex to the north of the city, this venue has ten five-a-side pitches for you and the lads to hire, all with synthetic turf. Open late throughout the week, here you’ll also find an on-site bar and café as well as free WiFi connectivity and live sports playing on their TVs.
3. Yardley Fives
Situated in the Yardley area east of the city centre is Yardley Fives. If you’re looking for Birmingham football pitches without all the frills, then this place will suit you and the lads just fine. With seven 5-a-side pitches available to book, you can play here right up until 10pm throughout the week, closing earlier on Fridays and weekends. When you’re all finished up, you could always go for a pint in The William Tyler, Yardley’s Weatherspoon pub that’s situated just a 5-minute drive from the venue.
4. Goals Dudley (Rowley Regis)
To the west of the city centre you’ll find Goals Dudley at Rowley Regis, one of the biggest football pitches in Birmingham with a total of 11 large pitches available for hire. Much like many other Goals venues across the country, you can play here right up until 10:30 on the weekends and 10pm during the week, so if you’re arranging an after-work game then you have plenty of options.
5. Goals Birmingham (Perry Barr)
Also near the feared Spaghetti Junction in the north of the city is Goals Birmingham Perry Barr. Similar to other Goals venues, this place offers timeslots up ‘til 11pm throughout the week, closing earlier on Fridays and the weekends. This place boasts 8 five-a-side pitches as well as a large 7-a-side pitch to book out, as well as an on-site bar with free WiFi connectivity. Throughout the day you can also catch live sports playing on the TV screens inside, so heading here just to watch the game is also a great idea!
6. Aston University Sports Centre
Probably one of the closest football pitches in Birmingham to the city centre, the Aston University Sports Centre may belong to the university, but they gladly hire out their sports facilities to the public, making this a great place to play a game of 5-a-side if you don’t want to brave the weather. Bear in mind though, if you do want to play outside, they have a 3G pitch in Gosta Green that you can book through their website too.
7. Bournbrook Sports Pitches
Owned by the University of Birmingham, the Bournbrook Sports Pitches can be found on the university’s campus to the south of the city centre. Here you can hire out one of their small-sided 3G pitches as well as full synthetic and grass pitches through their “Pay & Go” system. Just bear in mind that prices vary depending on whether you’re booking during peak or off-peak times, so it’s best to check ahead and see what these are before booking.
8. Goals Black Country (Bilston)
Last but certainly not least on this list of Birmingham football pitches is Goals Black Country in Bilston. Perfect for those that are situated in Wolverhampton and Dudley, Midlanders would argue that this isn’t actually in Birmingham, but we’ll leave that up to you to debate. Similar to other Goals venues, this place also stays open until 11pm during the week and closes earlier on the weekends, as well as offering free WiFi and an on-site bar & café.
